Privacy & Policies

Confidentiality, Ethics, & Privacy Policies

The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission. 

All therapy is confidential. However, there are some exceptions to full confidentiality.

Exceptions include:

  • Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
  • If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.

ETHICAL GUIDELINES

The Family Relationship Center follows the ethical guidelines set forth by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT) and American Counseling Association (ACA).

INSURANCE

Reimbursement for services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan.  The Family Relationship Center does not take insurance, but can help with the reimbursement through your insurance agency by issuing a Super Bill of services rendered.


PAYMENT
Cash, check and all major credit cards accepted for payment.  Services for in-person office visits will require a credit card on file after the first visit.  Online video or text based psychotherapy sessions will require payment by credit card prior to the beginning of the session.

CANCELLATION POLICY

We value every appointment.  If you need to change/miss an appointment for any reason, you will need to call as soon as you become aware of this situation so that the change can be made on our schedule.  If you are more than 15 minutes late, unfortunately, your session will probably be cancelled and rescheduled for another time.  There is no charge for appointments cancelled or rescheduled more than 24 hours in advance.  

If you call with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged a $75.00 fee due to that time opportunity being missed by other clients. If you miss an appointment without calling, you will be charged the entire basic fee of session.
